The UCLA Graduate Choral Conducting Program offers a practical, no “busy-work” approach to graduate study that emphasizes passionate, expressive musical conducting, and the techniques and knowledge necessary to produce a great chorus.

The graduate program includes:

  • Two full terms conducting the UCLA Chamber Singers each year
  • Full term conducting the UCLA Symphony Orchestra each year
  • Special courses in Advanced Artistic Musical Conducting and Choral Techniques and Methods – designed for graduate majors
  • Performances with the UCLA Chorale, Chamber Singers and the Angeles Chorale – varied repertoire: a cappella to major works with orchestra
  • Weekly “family” meetings - graduate students with Dr. Neuen
  • Established priorities (choral and orchestral):
  1. Producing a professional, impacting sound
  2. Developing passionate, musical conducting
  3. Score study and analysis
